WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN PLANNING A MEAL FOR A 4 YEAR OLD

Meal planning is an important aspect that a care giver should put in consideration before embarking on cooking. Nutritive value of the meal should come first in the plan. Why? this is because each nutrient that goes in the child's body counts for his general wellbeing as regards to growth and development. The caregiver should make sure that the food is well balanced; meaning it should have proteins, vitamins, carbohydrates and essential minerals.

secondly, health status of the child determines the  quantity and quality of food the child is given. For example if a child is sick, she or he should be given enough quantity of food with vegetables and fruits given generously.

On the other hand, time is very important when planning a meal for a 4 year old. This is necessary in that, food should be cooked in time and given approximately after every three hours to allow digestion to take place. One should also  consider the amount of money available and the food in the season so as to avoid unnecessary stress in putting together the  nutritive food to cook for the child. Foods in season can save on the budget because they are always affordable.

Lastly, the caregiver should be keen to ensure that the food is given in variety and colorful attractive manner. This will make the four year old not to loose interest in the food served and will have a good appetite.
